South Central Head Start UPDATES

South Central Head Start staff have been working quickly to complete a transition of Head Start and Early Head Start services from KRFDC Inc. to Community Action Council.

The Prep Academy at Clark County (formerly Clark County Head Start) will resume full Head Start services on Thursday, January 17, 2019.

The Prep Academy at Laurel County (formerly Laurel County Head Start) will resume full Head Start services on Monday, January 14, 2019.

The Prep Academy at Berea (formerly Berea Head Start), and the Prep Academy at Richmond (formerly Richmond Head Start) will resume full Head Start services on Tuesday, January 15, 21019!

As a reminder, during inclement weather, Head Start programs follow the schedule of the local public school district.

As of today we do not have all of the direct-managed child development centers licensed in our name, a critical step when operating traditional Head Start services. We are continuing our efforts every day to ensure that these centers become licensed as quickly as possible. In the meantime, beginning on Monday, January 7th parents will be able to bring their child—and stay with the child—to their usual direct-managed center from 11AM-1PM to enjoy a hot lunch and educational engagement/socialization. Staff at your direct-managed center should report to their location as they normally would. As soon as the direct-managed centers become licensed we will let families and staff know and will resume traditional Head Start services at their normal time and operation.
